| | | WHY WE ARE HERE
The Healthcare for Musicians program has been helping to keep musicians healthy and playing since 2004.
We have gone from planning to actually assisting over 275 musicians including every thing from hurricane relief and medication to just getting a doctor or dentist to see a musicians in an emergency.
Since the flood and the hurricanes, we've assisted over 200 New Orleans emergency cases aiding musicians and their families, many with small children.
NOW MORE THAN EVER...
: We need to keep musicians from getting sick or dying at an early age. Many of these illnesses that can be prevented by early detection and visiting a doctor at a price they can afford. Our Musicians often know they are ill but also know they cannot afford a huge emergency room bill. But thanks to clinical partners getting musicians' appointments, sometimes on short notice, we are making progress.
: It is so important to remember that keeping musicians healthy and playing and keeps food on the table and utilities paid.
: Musicians need employment opportunities, like our Operation Outreach events for seniors in Nursing Homes and Medicare Part D enrollments. These gigs employed musicians while bringing joy to our elderly population and introducing thousands of children to jazz.
THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOU...
The Healthcare for Musicians program has helped many musicians find a doctor, dentist or other health providers when they most need it and for a price they can pay. But many musicians cannot even afford the small co pay. For them it is not a choice to "keep on playing" through an illness, but a necessity.
