Our musicians are ambassadors of Louisiana and enrich both our lives and culture.
Healthcare for Musicians (H4M) helps to insure that the music will go on and on by caring for the individual musician. Our mission is to provide affordable, accessible and preventative healthcare to musicians in south Louisiana.
Because many of our area musicians are self-employed, they are either uninsured or underinsured. This limits their access to healthcare. A musician' s health risk is also increased by the environmental nature of their art. Smoke filled rooms, life on the road as well as the stress of composing and performing songs for unsteady income weigh upon the health of Louisiana artists.
The primary purpose of this site is to help our musicians stay informed. By staying informed, they can protect their greatest resource, their own health and keeps them playing into the future.
It is important to recognize and remember that the music of south Louisiana is a world treasure that needs protection and encouragement. This is being accomplished by caring for these musicians. We invite Acadiana, the country and the world to join us as we honor our music and serve the people who make it. | | |
